A Note on Prerequisites

The New Media program is highly organized and structured to ensure the best possible results on behalf of our students. All listed prerequisites for each course are required. Each course is designed to assume thorough skills and experience accrued in previous New Media department courses. Prerequisite design and production skill sets are expected to be retained and applied in all assignments, which are evaluated and graded on this basis.

Waivers or concurrencies may be granted only upon submission of work produced which achieves the equivalent level expected at the end of all prerequisite courses.

CANM 236 Digital Photography

This course provides Computer Arts New Media majors with training in the general principles of photography relevant to current trends applicable to digital artists. The basic concepts and terminology of traditional and digital photography, composition, color theory, lighting methods and equipment are covered in the context of planning and capturing images specifically for subsequent digital manipulation. Students will learn to plan, compose and optimize image captures destined for digital media, web and print projects.
