The Salomé Project

Details

Poster for the public film première.

15 students in the Design Studio course were cast to perform roles in an original filming of the Oscar Wilde play, Salomé. The students rehearsed, performed, built the set, props, masks and costumes, shot and edited all digital video, recorded and synchronized digital audio and sound. The film was entirely shot over two 18-hour Saturdays.

Students were then charged with marketing the film and documenting the process. A 48-page program was created, along with a poster and tickets to the première public showing. The film was burned to DVD, enclosed in a custom-designed DVD packaging system. In addition, a 350-page project web site was created to market and document the project.

The entire project was completed over a single 15-week semester.
