January 2009 | Motion Graphics 3

After several years in the making, Gino Nave, Associate Director, musician extraordinaire and motion graphics expert for Computer Arts New Media, has completed development of Motion Graphics 3! Based on the needs of the design industry and the successes of our students' motion graphics projects during the 2008 Annual Spring Show, Gino has completed the Motion Graphics 3, the class that merges 3-D with motion. Motion Graphics 3 begins officially this semester, Spring 2009, and is already wildly successful. Maya, the industry standard in 3-D graphics, is the heart of the new class while Gino remains its soul.

January 2009 | Window Displays at 79 New Montgomery

Elisa Stephens, President of the Academy of Art University, has recently awarded ALL of the window display posters at 79 New Montgomery to graduates and undergraduates of Computer Arts New Media. Keep your eyes on AAU HQ for the results. We are all very excited to have work from New Media students displayed at the heart of the largest private art school in the United States! (Special thanks to Elisa Stephens.)

January 2009 | Bourbon and Branch Reunion

Greg Mar organized yet another, most-excellent reunion of New Media graduates at the Bourbon and Branch Saloon, one of San Francisco's most exclusive speak-easies, at the end of December. Everyone attending, alumni from this and previous years, had to have the secret password and enter through a bookshelf into an exclusive happening for graduates of New Media. The celebration included a special awards ceremony for John Woodbridge in honor of his contributions to the school of New Media. Everyone in attendance was excited and happy, not just about the holidays but their part in the New Media program.

January 2009 | Graduating in Fall 2009?

If you have 90 units completed in your degree program, you have been notified by Thomas Champion and the Academy of Art University that you need to Petition to Graduate this Spring Semester. If so, your deadline for submitting your portfolio for evaluation and approval by the Director and Associate Director is Friday, February 13th! Yes, Black Friday! Get used to it. You can't avoid it. No exceptions. If you can't make the time now, we'll see you in Spring 2010! Check the posters in the gallery and elevator lobby for more details.
